Terms of Service

Effective 7 October 2026.

Who you are dealing with

Nim is operated by an individual trader in Germany. The verified contact details are shown on the Nim listing in the App Store, as the Digital Services Act requires. For anything at all, write to hello@nimstudy.com.

What Nim does

Nim is a language learning tool in two parts: an iPhone app and a Chrome extension. It shows subtitles and translations on videos, looks words up, and turns the words you save into flashcards. Some of this uses AI models, which means some answers will be wrong. Nim is a study aid, not a reference work, and should not be relied on where accuracy matters.

Accounts

You do not need an account. One exists so the browser extension can send cards to your phone, and so a subscription follows you between the two. You are responsible for the email address you sign in with. You may delete your account at any time, which deletes everything held for it.

Nim Pro

Nim is free to use within a daily allowance, described on the Pro page. Nim Pro raises that allowance. It costs €5.99 a month or €49.99 a year and begins with a seven day free trial. One subscription covers both the app and the extension.

Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. Prices include VAT where it applies. A subscription bought in the App Store is billed by Apple and must be cancelled in your Apple subscription settings; one bought on this site is billed through Stripe and can be cancelled from your account page or by writing to us.

The allowance is measured in units of work rather than minutes, because a minute of video costs more when there is more speech in it. The Pro page explains what the current limits buy.

Cancelling and refunds

Cancel whenever you like. You keep Pro until the end of the period you have already paid for, and you are not charged again.

If you are in the EU or the UK you have a statutory right to withdraw within fourteen days of a purchase. Beyond that, if Nim has not worked for you, write and ask: a refund will not be refused over a few days either way. Purchases made in the App Store are refunded by Apple, not by us, because Apple takes the payment.

Fair use

Do not attempt to circumvent the daily allowance, resell access, or use Nim to process material you have no right to. Access may be suspended where this happens, and anything paid for and unused will be refunded.

What we do not promise

Nim depends on services we do not control, including Apple, Google, the sites you watch videos on, and the providers of the AI models. It will sometimes be unavailable or wrong. Nothing here excludes liability for death, personal injury, fraud, or anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded; beyond that, liability is limited to what you have paid in the preceding twelve months.

Changes

These terms may change. Anything that materially affects you will be announced by email to account holders before it takes effect, and continuing to use Nim afterwards means accepting it. The effective date above always tells you which version you are reading.

Law

German law applies. If you are a consumer, this does not take away the protections of the law where you live. The European Commission runs an online dispute resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr, though writing to us directly is faster.
